Expanding the space of the film Motonation through the the backstory of the counterculture movement Happy Nation, a setting where the film begins, the performance traced a world interwoven with AQB’s real-life social dynamics as an independent artist-run space.
Rather than proposing speculative “other worlds” or distant futures we cannot meaningfully predict, Happy Nation insisted on staying with the present: a moment defined by overlapping crises, technological saturation, and political exhaustion, but also by stubborn forms of hope and collective imagination. The all-night long continous night of performance and music connecting people across a hard-EU border treated the present as a shared performative space to inhabit and negotiate.
